Home-based Physiotherapy
Our home-based physiotherapy service is a flexible service that comes to you, whether it be your own home, respite accommodation, a residential aged-care home, or even in the local park! We understand that not everyone can get to, or wants to go to a physical clinic. We also believe you can get just as good a result with a home-based service as you would with a clinic-based service. Our home physiotherapy service provides tailored treatments designed to help you reach your goals. We can also help train family members, friends, and carers in simple rehabilitation techniques to assist your on-going rehabilitation.
Mobility aid prescription
Mobility assessments and equipment prescription can be such a simple but effective way to have a considerable positive impact on a person’s quality of life. Our experienced physiotherapists can prescribe you with mobility aids such as walking frames and transfer equipment and give you advice on where to purchase them. We are more than happy to work with Occupational Therapists and equipment suppliers in a collaborative approach to help you reach your goals. Our service can also provide training to family, support workers or carers on how best to use the equipment in a safe manner for all.
Falls prevention and balance training
Falls and poor balance can have a significant impact on a person’s health and wellbeing, and can significantly limit access within the community. Our physiotherapists are experts at providing fall prevention advice and exercise programs to help improve a person’s balance and confidence to stay mobile. We will work with you, your family and your support workers to help keep you as mobile and as safe as possible, now and into the future.
Neurological rehabilitation
We have extensive experience and understanding of neurological problems, how it can affect a person and those close to them, and how best to rehabilitate and manage the conditions into the future. We’ll help improve your physical health and also work closely with family members, carers and other healthcare professionals to coordinate treatment and help you reach your goals.
Orthopaedic rehabilitation
Far too often we hear of elderly adults sustaining broken bones from falls and not receiving adequate rehabilitation before being discharged home. Our experienced physiotherapists are highly skilled in providing post-operative orthopaedic rehabilitation. Rehabilitation following surgeries such as fracture repairs, joint replacements or reconstructions can often take several months, sometimes years to fully recover from. We will provide you with a rehabilitation program from start to finish, that focuses on you reaching your goals and getting you moving again.
Respiratory Physiotherapy
Respiratory physiotherapy is a lesser-known part of a physiotherapists training, but is vital in helping people with respiratory conditions. Our experienced physiotherapists all have training and experience in helping to manage respiratory conditions and can prescribe exercises and give advice on how best to improve and maintain your health.
Gait (walking) analysis and rehabilitation
Keeping people moving is the fundamental core purpose of Move Healthcare. We believe that the ability to walk is one of the most important factors in maintaining our health and wellbeing. Limitations in mobility can greatly impact quality of life and it’s unfortunately quite common to see people that are not able to walk well because they don’t have access to the right pieces of equipment or have not had adequate rehabilitation following an illness or injury. We are experts at assisting people to get moving again.
Manual handling equipment prescription
Our physiotherapists are experts at assessing a person’s mobility capabilities. Following our assessment, we will advise on the best pieces of manual handling equipment to ensure optimal levels of independence and safety for all stakeholders. We believe strongly in a multidisciplinary approach to manual handling equipment prescription and will work with you, your family and/or your care-staff to make sure you get the right equipment for your needs.
Manual handling education and training
Good manual handling skills are vital for the safety of both the client and their carers. We can provide manual handling training to suit your needs. Whether that be a small informal training session designed to assist with a specific problem, or training geared to larger audiences such as staff members of residential aged care homes. Our physiotherapists are experienced in providing up to date, informative and engaging training sessions.
Chronic disease management
As we age we are likely to have chronic diseases impact our health and wellbeing, and lifestyle. Unchecked, the progression of these chronic diseases can quickly escalate and cause further disability. Our experienced physiotherapist can provide you with a holistic treatment plan to manage your health and wellbeing and keep you independent. We will discuss your needs and goals with you and provide you with education, an exercise program and strategies to help you reach your goals. Chronic disease management often involves several other healthcare professionals, and at Move Healthcare we strongly believe in a multidisciplinary approach.
Anne had recently been discharged from hospital following an ankle fracture that required surgery. She was not allowed to weight-bear through her leg for 3 months and was discharged from the hospital with crutches. When she returned home she found that her mobility and confidence levels using her crutches were very low.
Move Healthcare’s expert physios visited Anne at home and helped improve her confidence using crutches in and around the home, up and downstairs and getting in and out of the car. After a few sessions, she was able to move around the home independently and with more confidence. This meant she did not have to go to respite care and could be closer to her family.
