Home Based Physiotherapy

Move Healthcare’s home-based physiotherapy service is a flexible service that comes to you, whether it be your own home, respite accommodation, a group home, an older adult’s home, or even in the local park! If your goal is to be able to bushwalk again, then we are happy to use the bush as our treatment room!!!! We understand that not everyone can get to, or wants to go to a physical clinic. We also believe you can get just as good a result, if not better, with a home-based service as you would with a clinic-based service.

Our home physiotherapy service provides tailored treatments designed to help you reach your goals, all from the comfort of your own home. We’ll provide exercises that can be practised on their own, on an ongoing basis, that will ensure improvements can be maintained. We can also help train family members, friends, carers and support workers in simple rehabilitation techniques to assist your on-going rehabilitation.

Home-based physiotherapy and rehabilitation have been shown to be just as effective as hospital-based rehabilitation for the management of conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s, post-op joint replacements etc. Move Healthcare provides home-based physiotherapy services across the Greater Sydney area.

Hydrotherapy

Move Healthcare can provide hydrotherapy sessions at your local pool to assist with your rehabilitation. We work out of local pools that have disability access so those with impaired mobility can also benefit from hydrotherapy. Water-based exercise can assist anyone, from those that can not normally weight-bear on land, to elite sportspeople recovering from injury or surgery.

Our hydrotherapy service is a great way to help a wide range of people improve movement and function with the support of being in the water. It is a great way to support the body and reduce the stresses on its structures, whilst improving flexibility, coordination, strength and balance. It’s also great fun! We’ll provide exercise programs that can be practised on their own. We can also help train family members, friends, carers and support workers to assist with ongoing rehabilitation.

Hydrotherapy has been shown to be an effective approach for management of a wide variety of conditions such as stroke, arthritis and also after orthopaedic surgery. Move Healthcare can provide hydrotherapy services at various local pools across the Greater Sydney area.

Exercise Rehabilitation

At Move Healthcare, getting people moving is what we do best…..and we love it when people are exercising. Exercise rehabilitation is at the heart of who we are and we think we are pretty good at it.

We can provide you with exercise programs to complete at home, at work, in the park, at the beach or at your local gym. Whilst fancy equipment is…..fancy, it is not always needed and it is amazing what can be done with a bit of elastic exercise band, a gym ball, your body weight, stairs and even the great outdoors (we love exercising outdoors!). Our expert physiotherapist can design specific exercise programs to get you moving, improve your health… and improve your life.

Exercise has been shown time and time again to be one of the biggest influencers on our health. It can help for such a wide range of conditions, including our mental health. Move Healthcare specialises in providing exercise programs to those who need a bit more attention and care. Mobility Assessments and Equipment Prescription

Keeping people moving is the fundamental core purpose of Move Healthcare. We believe that the ability to walk is one of the most important factors in maintaining our health and wellbeing. Limitations in mobility can greatly impact the quality of life and it’s unfortunately quite common to see people that are not able to walk well because they don’t have access to the right pieces of equipment or have not had adequate rehabilitation following an illness or injury.

Mobility assessments and equipment prescription can be such a simple but effective way to have a considerable positive impact on a person’s quality of life. Our experienced physiotherapists perform mobility assessments that can also identify rehabilitation potential and if further intervention is needed to improve independence and safety.

We can prescribe mobility aids such as walking frames and transfer equipment, and point you in the right direction where to purchase them. Our service can also provide training to family, support workers or carers on how best to use the equipment in a safe manner for all.

Assistive Technology and Orthotic Prescription

Assistive technology and orthoses can be vital in helping people maximise their potential. At Move Healthcare we can assist you find the right bits of equipment to help get you moving. Assistive Technology can range from simple devices to assist you get out of bed, to electrical stimulation units that can improve your walking. At Move Healthcare, we think modern technology can play a vital role in your rehabilitation, as such we keep up to date in the latest technologies being released.

We also use video games as part of our treatment programs to those that would benefit and enjoy integrating gaming into their rehab. Our years of experience prescribing home rehab programs has taught us that traditional physiotherapy exercise can get boring after a while. Using video games to promote movement, balance and exercise is a great way to beat that boredom. We can come to you and trial various devices and assist you make the right choice in finding the best equipment for you.

Manual Handling Education and Training

Good manual handling skills are vital for the safety of both the client and their carers. Our experienced physiotherapists are highly skilled at providing manual handling assessments and training for staff and family members. We know what it is like to participate in the compulsory manual handling training that most care staff have to undertake each year…..they can sometimes be a bit dry!!!! So we make our sessions engaging, fun and we want everyone to get involved in learning safe, practical and up to date manual handling techniques.

Move Healthcare can provide training to suit your needs. Whether that be a small informal training session designed to assist with a specific problem, or training geared to larger audiences such as staff members of aged care homes and high care group homes. Allied Health Assistant

Move Healthcare’s Allied Health Assistants work alongside your physiotherapist to deliver personalised therapy programs and help you stay on track with your goals. This service provides regular, hands-on support across NDIS, aged care, rehab in the home and private clients – helping improve consistency, confidence and outcomes.
